Meier or Mia is the traditional European game of 'Liar's Dice'. Of unknown origins, it has been played in one form or another since at least the Viking Era, with many Norse Saga stories centred around successful or failed attempts at high stakes dice games. Dice of all types and materials have been found across the world and represent some of the oldest games of human civilisation.
Meier is a very easy game to learn that can provide a quick but challenging game to players of all ages and experiences. Players compete in a circle to secretly roll the dice in the shaker and score the highest rolls possible. However, with the roll being secret, players can also attempt to bluff their fellow players and call rolls other than what they received. Competing players must decide whether they are telling the truth and have the winning roll, or are trying to bluff their way out of a losing one.
These sets include a handcrafted dice shaker, made either from premium leather, and stitched with durable waxed linen thread or a miniature cow horn/cup in various sizes. Included are two hand carved dice made from red deer antler or cow bone, with standard 1-6 dot configuration.
There is also a full instruction booklet included, to teach both beginners and advanced rules. In addition the booklet also contains research about the historical and cultural background of the games, printed on high quality parchment paper.
