A treasure necklace is believed to be exactly that. A necklace containing a variety of objects precious to the owner, a bit like a modern day charm bracelet. Treasure necklaces are beautiful archaeological finds, made up of a variety of gemstones, glass beads, decorative metalwork, pendants, and amulets. They have been found all over the Viking world, from Russia and Scandinavia, to Britain.
These kits contains everything you need to start your very own Viking Treasure Necklace. With it you can add your own treasures and create your own unique piece of history.
Glass beads were very important to the Vikings, and have been found in both men's and women's graves. The most decorative or colourful beads were likely to have been used as a makeshift currency to barter with. These kits contain a selection of handmade glass and ceramic beads sourced to reproduce the beads from archaeological finds.
Each kit also comes with premium dyed Shetland wool and either a leather trollen wheel or a wooden lucet fork, with which to make your cord.
Along with these, a full instruction booklet is included, containing easy to use instructions on how to make your necklace, as well as meticulously researched information on the history of treasure necklaces.
Each set includes;
- 1x 3" Leather Trollen Wheel or Wood Lucet Fork
- 1x High Quality Instruction and Information Booklet on Parchment Paper
- 2x 10m Premium dyed Shetland wool in assorted colours
- 5x Assorted Beads in glass, pottery, bone & horn, Selected to Reproduce Archaeological Finds
